Attendance Recovery
Cochrane Collegiate Academy and iMeck families, this is Principal Sutton with an important update regarding attendance recovery in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. We are pleased to announce an upcoming change to our attendance requirements. The previous Attendance Recovery Regulation, which automatically assigned an F grade to high school students who missed eleven or more class periods and did not recover missed time, is being eliminated. Starting this semester, students will no longer need to make up missed time to pass a course. While this regulation is in the process of being changed, we want to emphasize that regular attendance remains crucial for academic success. Our school will continue to follow state-mandated attendance monitoring procedures, which require specific interventions after three, six, and 10 absences. Our exam exemption policy remains in effect for courses without state-required CTE, World Language (LeveI and II) AP, IB, or End-of-Course assessments. Students may qualify for exemptions under the following conditions: Students maintain an A average (90% or above) with 3 or fewer absences Students maintain a B average (80% or above) with 1 or fewer absences Students who qualify for exemptions may still choose to take the final exam to improve their grade. In such cases, standard CMS grading practices apply, with the exam counting as 20% of the final grade. Thank you for your continued support of our school.

Physicals
Hello Team, Please take a moment to ask any 7th and 8th-grade students in your classes if they have their $25 and still need a physical. Could you please let me know which students indicate they are prepared for the physical or still need it? Thank you for your help in gathering this information! Best regards, Aljamon Alexander

Winter Sports.
Dear Families, This is a reminder that sports physicals will be available on campus tomorrow morning for any students interested in trying out for Winter sports, including Girls' and Boys' Basketball and Cheer. If your student needs a sports physical (note: this differs from a regular annual doctor’s physical), please have them bring $25 tomorrow to complete this requirement. This will also benefit students interested in Spring sports like Soccer, Baseball, and Track, as a current sports physical will be required for participation. Winter Sports Tryouts are scheduled for November 12th and 13th . Students must have an up-to-date sports physical on file to be eligible for tryouts. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you tomorrow! Best, Cochrane Collegiate Academy Athletics
